Nativity Service at Christchurch 2013

A packed church watched an excellent performance of this year’s Christmas service by the children of King William Street.

Opening the service were Polar Bear class singing ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ which they learnt in cooperation with Commonweal Sing Up students.

This was followed by KS1 dance club showing us their dancing skills to the tune, ‘Make my Wish Come True’.

Mary, Joseph and the donkey soon appeared on the stage. It was delightful to watch the children as each acted out their part in the real story of Christmas to a keen audience of parents, grandparents and carers.

It was delightful to watch the children as each acted out their part in the real story of Christmas to a keen audience of parents, grandparents and carers.  The Bible readings were particularly well read by a children from Panda class. The Christmas story was interspersed with well loved Christmas carols and songs including, Silent night, Little Donkey, Mary had a baby, Twinkle, twinkle, little star, There were shepherds in the fields…Away in a manager and We wish you a Merry Christmas .

Special highlights were Mary showing the baby Jesus held high for all to see and the big hug from the innkeeper.

Tiger class and Wombat class then sang ‘It was on a Starry Night’ which summarised beautifully the Nativity scene dramatised by Blue Whale class.

The finale was provided by the KS2 dance club. portraying an angel and star dance; which included some spectacular displays of athletic skills.

The Rev Daphne Hardwick, representing the Christ Church community ended by reminding everyone that Jesus is with us all the time not just at Christmas.
