For our Harvest Service, we, as a school decided to donate to the Swindon Food Collective in order to help people living below the poverty lines.

These donations will help people in crisis situations, where the food  will be made up into a box which will feed a family for a few day, so will stop the children from going hungry and prevent people having to steal or beg.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty-including 4.5 million children. Between April 2018 and March 2019, food banks/food collectives provided a record 1.6 million food supplies to people in crisis, a 19% increase on the previous year.

Social workers, health professionals and other front line servants give food vouchers to families in need. These people then take their vouchers to their local food bank where they are given a food parcel or a box of food.
